What’s in a food parcel?

Our foodbank provides three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.

The Trussell Trust has worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contain sufficient nutrition for at least three days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.

A typical food parcel includes:

  • Breakfast cereals
  • Soup
  • Pasta/ Rice/ Noodles
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned beans/ spaghetti
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned fish
  • Tinned vegetables or pulses
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea/ Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Biscuits
  • Snacks
  • Tinned desserts, such as custard/ Rice Pudding
  • Jam or another spread
  • Fresh bread

Very often we will have fresh fruit and vegetables for you to choose from too, and there is a help-yourself area where you may find drinks, sauces, snacks, and other useful food items.

We can nearly always offer a range of toiletries, cleaning items, pet food, and toilet rolls as well.

Dietary requirements

Our foodbank can usually adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs, for example, gluten-free, or vegetarian. When you arrive at the foodbank centre, a volunteer will chat with you about any special dietary requirements and preferences you may have.
