Volunteer with us
Come and join our team...
Our volunteers help us to provide food and practical support to people left without enough money to live on, as well as serving at our pantries, campaigning for change and helping to run our advice service.

Vacancies at Bexhill
Foodbank Team Leader at Bexhill
We are seeking one or two new volunteers who would like to regularly serve with the Bexhill Foodbank at our open sessions. Ideally, you’d like to serve at least twice a month.
As Team Leader you’d be required to volunteer at our open shifts. Preferably, you’d be available across the three days, but if you only have availability on one or two of them, please still apply:
Tuesday - 12.15pm - 3.15pm
Thursday - 9.15am – 12.15pm
Friday - 2.15pm – 5.15pm
Initially, you'd be working as a general volunteer along with one of the foodbank managers to learn all about the work of the foodbank and how the open shift runs. Then, once you feel confident, you’d take on the Team Leader or Voucher Processor role to expand your knowledge and level of responsibility.
As the Team Leader you need to feel confident to lead a small team, take responsibility for the smooth running of the session, be computer literate and able to learn a new (simple) computer system, be able to talk to people from all walks of life, be able to lift bags equivalent to a weekly shop and feel comfortable to make decisions in a (sometimes) busy environment.
Pebsham Pantry Volunteer
Working as part of a team, you'd be available on a Wednesday morning between 9am - 11.30am. Ideally, you'd want to serve at least twice a month, but if you would like to serve every Wednesday, that would be great.
You'd be helping to set up the hall at Pebsham Community Hub, where we host our weekly subsidised pantry. Setting up tables, putting the food out and getting ready to serve about 25 families a week. During the session, our volunteers may take the money, restock, help serve the food and chat to clients. Then the team all put everything away together.
It is a lovely, small, and regular team of volunteers that you'd be joining. You need to be able to lift a folding table and a crate of food with another person.
We'd also be interested to hear from anyone who would like to take on extra responsibility and oversee the shift.
Wednesday 9am - 11.30am
We do NOT have any Battle vacancies currently.
If you are interested in applying to volunteer with us and woudl like to join our waiting list, please complete and submit an application form to Michelle Pannell, Foodbank Manager on info@bexhill.foodbank.org.uk. Or post it to Bexhill Foodbank, 19/20 Station Road, Bexhill, TN40 1RE. We will then hold onto this until we have a vacancy.
Volunteers make a difference in the local community across a range of roles, including boosting donations, packing food parcels, providing a warm welcome, tackling loneliness, signposting to additional services, connecting with partners, raising awareness and leading projects.
At both branches, we have wonderful teams of volunteers, and it is fun and stimulating to work amongst them at the food bank/ pantry, serving our clients whilst they are in crisis.
We would like to encourage applications from under-represented groups to help us have team members that represent the make-up of our clients – people who consider themselves to be non-white, those with lived experience of poverty or using a food bank, those who are still of working age/ have children still in primary/ secondary education.
